Crown the Empire and Volumes are currently the support acts for Of Mice & Men on the Full Circle Tour. While Of Mice & Men had an off-day before playing Rock on the Range today (May 16th), Crown the Empire and Volumes decided to make the trip to Pittsburgh to play an off-date show for drummer, Brett Taddie’s, hometown.

After the 3 smaller, “local”-sized bands played fantastic sets, Volumes came out and played 6 songs. At this point the pit opened and barely closed for the rest of the night. Volumes brought great energy to the stage. The crowd really got into them and they didn’t miss a beat.

After Volumes, Crown the Empire took the stage. They brought more energy to the stage and the crowd than I have ever seen. In a small and intimate venue, there wasn’t a single person standing still on the floor. From the looks of it, every fan had a great time. Honestly, the best show I’ve ever been to. The crowd fed off of Crown the Empire’s energy on stage and then in return, Crown the Empire fed off of the energy of the crowd. Crown the Empire shows are the definition of what a post-hardcore show should be like (or whatever technical genre you want to call it).

Any chance you get to see Crown the Empire (or Volumes), go spend a few bucks and see them. I had the pleasure of having the chance to meet some of them before the show. Not only are they fantastic musicians, they’re really down-to-earth guys.
